Froot Loop is our newest flock member. We got him on July 20, 2010. He was around four months old then, which makes him nearly 11 months old now. I’m pretty sure he is a goldenface opaline cobalt, which is why he is so colorful. In fact, we named him Froot Loop because of his colors, and we all agreed that it suited him well.
Froot Loop is still very afraid of us being around him, but I plan on working with him to make him more comfortable around us and with coming out for flight time. He is a real follower, I think this is partly because of him being the youngest, but he always follows Kasper around now like a stalker. This is a good thing for me because I can use this behavior to get him to try new things that Kasper does. Maybe he will even try veggies for once! The only thing that he doesn’t like to have is mist baths, he is still wary about the spray bottle. I don’t think he likes using water other than drinking it. I’ll have to get a real bath soon for them to see if he will try that out.
When he first got here, he didn’t make a peep for weeks. After quarantining him, I finally moved the other two from their cages in with him in the big cage. Now that he is with the Kasper, he is way more active and sings all the time. He’s got a beautiful voice too.
Froot Loop’s second day at home. 🙂
